In 2012, Machelle Wagner, a dedicated resident of Chesterton, Indiana, founded Chelle's, fueled by her vision to create a unique and captivating shopping experience. She purchased the iconic Barb's Bakery building at 211 Broadway determined to craft a space that would uplift and inspire her community. With the invaluable help of her parents, Sharon and Fred Millet, and her husband, Joe Wagner, the shop's revitalization began. Chesterton, situated at the southernmost tip of Lake Michigan, boasts stunning natural beauty, with sand dunes and forests, as well as state and national parks. Machelle's commitment to preserving this beauty led her to partner with manufacturers who share her dedication to environmental responsibility.

Two years later, Fred and Sharon, Machelle's parents, seized an exciting opportunity by acquiring the building next door at 209 Broadway. Green Garage emerged and a perfect partnership formed. This second shop showcases a unique array of gifts, beautifully renovated furniture, gently worn Second Love items, and artisan workshops. Years later, a doorway between the shops was created, and the name was changed to Chelle's Boutique & Garage, where a vibrant team of creative and friendly individuals came together. Now, people enthusiastically describe the shop as a treasured local gem. We extend a warm welcome for you to visit, for we believe that every person who enters our shop is a friend we have yet to meet.
